Brief Description |
The National University of Colombia is the largest public university of Colombia, founded in 1867, with around 44.000 students, 3.000 teachers and 2000 officials (administrative staff). It has eight branches located in: Bogotá, Manizales, Medellín, Palmira (Andean branches) and in Arauca (Orinoquian branch), Leticia (Amazonian branch), Tumaco (Pacific Branch) and San Andres Island (Caribbean branch) at the Colombian borders. The University is formed by 21 faculties, 68 departments and 37 schools. Besides, it has 18 research institutes; 10 centers for extension programs; 13 museums, 1 observatory; 1 conservatory; 32 libraries; 2 biological stations and a cluster of The collective health research group is a group classified by Colciencias in highest rank. It developed several lines of research, mainly in collective health, health policy, youth policy, education and ethnic education popular, bioethics and health policy and reproductive. Develop university extension programms. It has 48 members, including teachers, students and professionals from different disciplines. |

Carolina Morales
|
OD, MAS, PhD in Public Health Carolina was visiting researcher of Department of Social Change at the Faculty of Political Science at the Complutense University of Madrid. She is member of two research groups within the Department of Collective Health: Research group of Collective Health and Socio-historial studies of social protection. Her research focuses on Quality of life and health; Equity and health policies; subjectivities; Youth and Health Policies. Currently she is involved in a comparative study of reforms in health care among Mexico, Brazil and Colombia, and in a project about Equity in funding health services in Colombia.

OD, MAS, PhD (c) in Public Health Sonia forms part of the Collective Health research group and has experience with research in epidemiology. Her research interests relate to epidemiology, critical epidemiology and social inequities in health. Her work concentrates on women, young people and oral health.
